Hothead Games has finally spilled the beans. That possessed juicer, no doubt cast in the firey ovens of Hell by El Diablo, and his compadres are finally making their way to a platoform near you. That’s right; the first installment of the Penny Arcade Adventures is set for release one week from tomorrow, May 21st.
Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness,
Episode One will be available worldwide both via Xbox Live Arcade
(except Korea) and via the Greenhouse digital distribution platform for the Windows, Mac, and Linux versions next
Wednesday.
For those that don’t remember, Penny Arcade Adventures: On the
Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One is an RPG-Adventure game
set in the deranged 1920s universe of New Arcadia. Players join Gabe
and Tycho, the crime-solving team of the Startling Developments
Detective Agency, in this first of many planned episodes, to combat
savage enemies and solve mysteries hidden deep in the sinister heart of
New Arcadia. The result of a collaboration between Hothead Games and
Penny Arcade, Penny Arcade Adventures features distinct artwork and
characters designed exclusively by Mike "Gabe" Krahulik, story and
dialogue by Jerry "Tycho" Holkins, both brought to life by the Hothead
team.
Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness,
Episode One is expected to offer players six to ten hours of gameplay,
and is priced at $19.95 for the Windows, Mac, and Linux versions and at
1600 Microsoft points via Xbox Live Arcade. The game has been rated "M"
for Mature for all platforms.
Personally, I have been waiting for this game since I first heard murmurs of such an entity. I love adventure games, and adore the work the gents from Penny Arcade do each week. In my mind, it just doesn't get any better than this. I just hope this amazing love child is something beautiful, and not something similar to the demented spawn of some Hollywood super-couple.
