[Review]

Main Menu Although the Marvel Heroes Breakout DVD Game from Brighter Minds Media is not a video game, it is an interesting take on the DVD/Board game combination. The premise of the game is simple: super villains have escaped and are running amok.  Your job is to capture the villains, and return them to jail.

The game offers a number of gameplay options, a quality presentation, and above average video interludes.  These all add up to a quality game that's actually fun to play.

[Review] [X360]

If you are a Master Chief disciple like I am, then this review will probably be of no use to you, as you have most likely already purchased Halo 3, and may have even finished the single player campaign, or rapidly climbed the ranks in ranked online multiplayer matches.

But if you haven’t yet purchased the game, or have been waiting for this title to upgrade from an Xbox to an Xbox 360, read on.

Depths of Peril from Soldak Entertainment is dubbed an action RPG, but it is more than just an RPG/Hack and Slash and the depths of the peril are deep indeed. This single player incorporates some strategy elements into it as well. Stephen Peeler, formerly Technical Director of Ritual Entertainment, founder of Soldak Entertainment and I have exchanged a good deal of emails about the game already. There were some technical problems with the sound but he was ready and willing to resolve the issues and it came down to needing some brand new drivers in the end. But he was quick in his responses and dedicated to getting the problems solved. In addition there is already an active community in the forums for the game as well.

In the game you take on the role of a faction leader in the town of Jarvik where you must guide your clan through political intrigues, survive clan raids and stand fast in the tides of war. All the while taking on and completing quests to increase your influence in the town and recruit newer, stronger NPCs to the clan. You can win by wiping out all of the other clans or by uniting them all through diplomacy.

[Review] [PS3]

LOGO-LAIR-layered_300dpi_copy

Lair is the most annoying game I have played in some time.  Many times in the four nights I spent playing the game, I contemplated removing the disc from my PS3 and cracking the disc in half.  Repetitive gameplay coupled with control issues all but ruined what could have been a pretty good game.

[Review] [PC] [X360]

(To clarify, I only played the Xbox 360 version of the game, therefore technical issues discussed below, may not be present in the PC version)

Let’s get this out of the way: Bioshock is NOT the greatest game ever.  Neither was Gears of War, but Bioshock does a lot of things right that make it a great game.

Attack on Pearl Harbor - Review Print E-mail

[PC] [Review]

The attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 was a devastating blow to US military forces and a psychological blow to the American populace.  However, as history will show, Americans fulfilled the prophecy of Japanese Pearl Harbor strike architect Isoroko Yamamoto when he feared that the attack will “awaken a sleeping giant”.  Main Menu Attack on Pearl Harbor from Legendo may awaken you from your gaming slumber with an ol’ fashioned-style shoot ‘em up arcade game that has all the modern gaming amenities.

The last WWII based arcade game I played was 1943:The Battle of Midway which, as you may know, was like fighting the war on a treadmill but it provided non-stop action and lots of shooting.  APH has arcade-style action with the campaign structure we have come to expect replete with a stripped-down storyline, creatable profiles, a choice of weapons and in this case a third-person view.  There is also a multi-player option as well, but more about that later.
