Since I have been sleep deprived of late, Nyquil-high antics took Hump Day readers on a bit of a wild, insane ride last week. I felt that this week we can take a nice, relaxing look into the world of golf.
Then I realized that I don’t like golf. Well, not that I don’t LIKE golf, but more that it doesn’t like me. See, I’m banned from playing at three different mini-golf courses in the area where I grew up, because I didn’t get the concept of the word “putt”.
But this game that a friend pointed me to is actually kind of fun. It’s called Disc Golf, and instead of using a ball, you’re aiming a Frisbee at a metal cage. You have to avoid obstacles like garbage cans, lakes, trees and rocks.
The controls are simple. Choose the style of toss, click, pull back, and hold the Frisbee. This will choose the angle and power of the throw. Then, let it fly! As you play, you get the feel for what you can do with each of the tosses, because it’s not all about power.
If you click on the mini-map (and not the Frisbee), you can get it to move so you can look around the area and plan your shots. It helps in case you blink during the initial flyover of the hole.
And a warning – the 18th hole is evil. I was doing well up until that point, but my final score was a 64, so there’s your score to beat.
Remember to leave comments about what you get after you play, and please, if there’s a game online you’d like to see reviewed on Generation: Gamerz, give me the link in a comment below and I’ll check it out! Or send me a private message.
Readers have left 4 comments. 1. Untitled SuperGuido, Super Administrator I tied you! That's Frisbee Golf and we have played it here in Wisconsin since I can remember. I think the first time I saw it was when I went to summer camp way back in....well way back, right Dave? ;)
If you click and drag anywhere on the screen aside from the disc you can move the map. Be sure to pay attention to the length of those arrows because that translates into how far the disc flies. 2. Untitled TheGirl, Author YEY! You didn't beat me for once! I've never played it in real life before. Like I said... BANNED from mini-golf. It's funny though. Perhaps if I make it to WI again, we can play a few rounds. 3. Untitled SuperGuido, Super Administrator It was only one game...now you've prompted me to go play another 4. Untitled SuperGuido, Super Administrator Done! 57... See, now look what you did :) That last hole is a cakewalk for a Frisbee Golf Pro like.
