 [OpEd]

So, my adventures with Microsoft continue. For those of you that don't remember, I have had trouble and more trouble dealing with Xbox tech support.

So, today I get a marketing letter in the mail from my buddies at MS, offering to extend my warranty, for a fee of course.

The reason for the timing of this letter is because my 90-day warranty is to expire November 5, 2006. I purchased my 360 in February, and although I don't have a calculator handy, I'm guessing that was more than 90 days ago. So here's what I've been able to figure out:

  • When I called Xbox Support the first time, they did not have my system "registered", so the tech did so
  • 90 days from the day I called is November 5th.
  • Becuase MS did not have me in the system, my warranty did not start until that day.
  • So, after recieving the letter, I decided to call MS, and attempt to have my power supply warranty replaced. "No problem." I need only fax them a copy of their documented f*ck up. I'll keep you posted.

Today wraps up the interview with Ron Rejwan. We'll look at the future of the game and a list of teasers that Ron supplied us with that will make the game stand out from some of the other games available.

In Part 2 of my interview with Ron Rejwan from Wargames 2.0, we focus on the development process and background of the game as well as the development team. It is nice to know that in a world where video games are rapidly approaching 5Gigabytes or more and require the latest and greatest hardware there are still people dedicated to making quick, light games that can be played from anywhere without the need to install a piece of software or expensive new hardware.

Here's yet another case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.

First, we have Xbox platform strategy guy and former Xbox Live director Andre Vrignaud blogging that 1080p is not useful this generation.

The very same day, Gamespot.com is reporting that "that Microsoft would be releasing a cable to support 1080p video output".

Does anyone else see the irony in that or is it just me?

I managed to contact Ron and steal some time from him to talk about Wargames 2.0 (beta-testing beginning soon). He was forthcoming with information and even dropped us a few spoilers and sneak peeks into his creation.
