*** If you take offense to the title, I apologize, but please realize it should be taken lightly. ***
So, I'm sure you have heard it all before...hardware failures for the Xbox 360. But now it has happened to me. What a nightmare.
The other day, my daughter was playing Tiger Woods, when suddenly the TV screen blanked and the Xbox "Ring of Light" looked like the picture at right. So, I called tech support. After being putting me on hold 4 times, taking no more information than my serial number and brief problem description, I was told I needed to send it to Microsoft for repairs to the tune of $129. No troubleshooting, no nothing. Its broke, and your warranty is up.
I tried again with chat support...this technician asked me a few more questions, but essentially the result was the same. So I begin to do my own investigation.
Here's what I found:
Microsoft's site was very little help, but did offer this Users are more helpful: it is most likely a power problem I got code 0001. Users come up with a variety of solutions I could make my own replacement power supply I could bid on a replacement supply on eBay and may get lucky, assuming it works when it gets here Apparently Intec has picked up on this problem, but do I really want to wait until November? Or, I could buy it a new one from the the only place on earth that seems to sell the power brick
I hope this helps anyone who may be experiencing the same pain I am living through...
