Here is a copy of the email I sent to SplitFish asking them about the recent press release:

Mr. [Ken] Tetterington,

I was hoping you might answer some questions I have about your recent press release announcing the "delivery of the MotionFX Adapter for the Sony Playstation 1 and 2 to GameStop retail locations across North America."

It seems to me that the press release has a decidedly anti-Nintendo message in it and I was quite curious as to how that would happen? It seems rather unprofessional to me overall.

For example, the line about "Television sensor strips are not required," is an obvious call to the Wii's sensor bar and I wonder if it is really necessary information. Another example is the line about that you "will continue to leverage these technologies on choice consoles only." Which is essentially saying only Sony even though your "fan base has asked us to support the Nintendo Wii," which I find quite strange since it is built into the console already. But then the press release goes even further to say "however based on our own internal studies we report that the Wii has slightly more performance than a GameCube but less than the original xBox. The Wii is therefore unable to support our adapter technologies." Really? You mean there is some necessary software that must run in parallel to the data processing that happens in the adapter unit itself? The Wii is incapable of handling this data and therefore cannot use a motion sensing device? That is quite strange.

Then, this last bit sort of just muddies the waters for me, "Its clear that as the Playstation 3 now plays over 5,000 PS1, PS2 and PS3 game titles," does this pertain to your delivery of the unit for the PS and PS2 because I do not see the connection. Could you enlighten me to the nature of the connection?

Finally, the Press Release about the Delivery of the motion adapter for the PS and PS2 goes on to say that the "PS3 will dominate the future of mature games," which is rather a subjective statement to say the least. What exactly does it mean by mature games and how does it apply to your products?

Our readers, I am sure, would be quite interested to hear what you and your company have to say in response to these questions and I will be more than happy to relay the information on to them via our website.

Thank you for your time and attention.

I will post the reply when/if it arrives. Personally I think there is a message in here about the state of gaming as a whole. The eternal flame wars, the 'my console is better than yours,' the whole disharmony is rather serious and now it has moved outside of the arena of the consumers to the businesses which I believe to be unnecessary and unprofessional.
