With only 7 shopping days until Christmas (or whatever holiday you may be celebrating), the staff at Generation: Gamerz has compiled a last minute gift idea list for the techie/gamer in your life.

CigDangle's Pick

Samsung LN-S4095D 40" 1080p LCD HDTV I once had a 34" Sony HDTV, and felt it was plenty large, but after spending time at my sister's house and her 42" Toshiba plasma HDTV, I was left wanting a bit more without buying something that will dwarf my living room. The Samsung LN-S4095D is the HDTV I need to fill the void in my life.

Not only does this HDTV have a higer native resolution (1920x1080) than other televisions of this size, it also boasts a 6000:1 contrast ratio. Additionally, this badboy has a variety of inputs including 2 HDMI, 2 Component video, S-video and composite video. As if these features weren't enough to make nearly any gamer happy, add a PC input, 178º vertical and horizontal viewing angles, and an 8ms response time, make this a perfect gaming TV. And is if all of that isn't enough, there's support for all current formats (480i/480p/720p/1080i/1080p) and an ATSC tuner. All for under $1800 USD; you just can't beat it.

Nintendo DS (Lite) M3 Pro Mini 1GB All-in-One Combo This BUDGET COMBO allows you twice as much memory as both the DS-X and the G6 LITE! Yeah baby! Bigger is better…well in memory anyway. Cheaper is always better and this is cheaper than some the other packages as well. This is the mega-gadget for the DS. I need this so I can watch films, play MP3s and read eBooks on my DS in addition to playing games. Now don’t get me wrong, playing games is the main reason I have the DS, but I knew a day would come when I wouldn’t need to carry around the MP3 player along with the DS and that day is now. This is the brand-new, updated, M3 Pro for Nintendo DS only! The M3 Adapter is made for those who want to download freeware movies and music from a PC to a Nintendo DS. (1GB Mini SD and Reader included). Of course this gift would be only for a hardcore DS owner who knows what to do and how to do it. So if your friend, lover or child has had their DS surgically grafted to their hands then this is probably a good safe gift idea for them. Pretty cool for under $100.

TurboGoat's Pick

Marantz PMD660 If you are a radio news reporter this is THE "tape recorder" to have. When I started in radio news in the mid-1990s we actually used cassette tapes to record our sound for stories. Older hacks will say they used reel-to-reel. It all comes down to the fact that sound was recorded on magnetic tape. Marantz has been providing field recording equipment for 20 years and that's why a "tape recorder" is known in the industry simply as a "Marantz". The PMD660 is a flash recorder and I prefer it to the hard disk due to some problems with fragility. This recorder fits in the palm of your hand, records MP3 mono at 64kps and stereo at 128kps. A 1GB card can hold 1 hour of uncompressed stereo, 17 hours of compressed MP3 stereo and 36 hours of mono. It has two XLR Mic inputs which is the industry standard and has 2 built-in Mics in case you forget yours (which I have done) and requires 4 AA batteries.

The price has dropped $350 from last summer and the combination of quality and convenience makes the $499 price a steal.
