Lately, people have criticized us for multiple reasons. They say we don't always talk about what's new, they say we review harshly, they say some of our games are old.
But we're not here to only talk about the latest and supposedly greatest. We're here to tell you, the readers, the gamerz, what we think. We're here to tell the truth, not to pander to the critics or to the people who have all the money.
We write about what we think is interesting, we review games when we can. We do not get advanced copies and as such we are not beholden to anyone to give a good review for special favors. As such when we review something, we write what we feel.
I hate nothing more than reading several reviews about a game and then spend money on it, money that takes time and energy to get, only to be disappointed with the product I purchase. So when I review a game and write my review, I tell you exactly what I think. This may not make us many friends; it might even make us a few enemies. But it is what we do, and it is why I do it.
If I think a game could be better, I say so. If I think the developers botched some crucial element, an element that would diminish the gameplay or the experience, I write about it. Because we too are gamerz, we too want the best games for our money. We too want to be entertained and feel that we get value from the games we buy or rent.
If that makes us some enemies along the way, so be it. But they only seek to suppress the truth, while we only strive to tell that same truth. We write about the things we find interesting, we write about the games we find fun. But we also write about the games we feel don't live up to the standards and the value of the money that we the gamerz put forth for those games.
If a review I write stops someone from buying a game, saves them some money or enhances their gameplay experience, then I am happy. That is the point of this place and this space. If we feel a game is worth the money we will say it, but if it isn't then we must tell you what we think. In the end everyone makes their own purchasing choices and we do not wish to stop anyone from doing so, we merely wish to give them an equal and fair look at the potential purchases as well as perhaps, a different look at some of the games that are out there. We like to talk about games in general. It doesn't matter if the game has just gone gold or if it was originally loaded on floppy disks. Some of the best games I remember came on big floppy disks for my Atari 800XL.
Speaking of the 800XL we are not just interested in what is coming, but we like to look at what has come before. There is nothing wrong with this. Many of us still play older systems and if you're like us you are always looking for a new good game, even if that game is ten years old. So why shouldn't we write about the classics? Why shouldn't we tell you what we think about all the games?
We're not saying we're experts in anything here. We are just like you, we are gamerz. We love the games and the culture. We hope to supply everyone with information and insight.
As the site says, this is by gamerz, for gamerz. Nothing more and nothing less.
