If you haven't started shopping yet, you ought to hurry up. Luckily for you, you can have some of the gifts below overnighted, just in time for the Christmas Weekend. Hurry up!
SuperGuido's PickSTOREX CLUB MPiX-355 400 GB USB 2.0
This is a 2.4 Kg (approx 5.3 pounds) sized jewel of multimedia playback and storage. Weighing at a hefty 400GB with a data transfer speed of 480Mbps this will satisfy even the most hardcore computer media user. For simplicity in Europe it comes with all the necessary cables including SCART (a TV adapter for those that don't know) plus it even has a remote. The unit is capable of playing a variety of media formats including DivX 3.x, DivX 4.x, DivX 5.x, DivX6, XviD, MPEG1, MPEG2, MP3, WMA, AC3 (Dolby Digital), DTS, AVI, MPEG and VOB. It is not a complete list of available media types (no Ogg support from the look of things) but you can always convert the files before transferring them. There are cooler looking units and there are less expensive ones, but I feel this is an excellent balance between cost, aesthetics and functionality. Even I want, no, NEED one of these because I need more space. It currently runs around 112 GBP which is about $220 USD today or on another site 184.20 Euro. Not gaming related but it will definitely make room to install more games. I have 28GB of music alone on my PC and could really use that space for some games. TurboGoat's PickIon iTTUSB Turntable with USB Record
I'm no spinner and scratcher but I still have vinyl and need a table to rotate my way back to the good 'ol days. As an audio producer I sometimes need to get audio samples from real vinyl, the kind of warm sound that digital recordings sometimes lack. In addition, sometimes you need to make samples that only hand spinning a record can produce. The Ion ITTUSB with USB record gives you turntable functionality with digital transfer to MP3 or CD audio. This turntable may not have the robustness required for the club spinners out there but for the rest of us who at this point will only use a turntable to convert your parent’s vinyl to a more durable format it’s a perfect combo for the price. The component comes with record software to manage your recordings and simple things like a slipmat for scratching so you to can be like the Sugar Hill Gang….Hotel, Motel, Holiday… Okay I’ll stop. CigDangle's PickUSB Rocket Launcher If you work in an office, particularily divided into tiny cubes, you will appreciate my pick for the 4th day: a USB Rocket Launcher. This little device provides a new dimesion to the office rubber band fight. Simply attach it a USB port on your PC, |

install the supplied software, and away you go. If you want to get really tricky, mount a webcam (not included) to the top of the launcher. Too slick, and perfect for any IT/Office geek on your list. Just click on the link at the top and search for USB Rocket Launcher.
