[News] [MOB]

ggmobile-monday

Today's Mobile Monday has me checking in on the health of my brain. Those that really know me probably think that this game won't be even remotely accurate one way or the other. Frankly, I would have to agree with that assessment.

BC2_hires_ENG_screenshot_02Brain Challenge Volume 2 feels like GameLoft attempting to take advantage of the recent trend of brain health and training related games. As a matter of fact it probably is just that. I'm not saying it's good or bad, it's just a statement of fact.

Brain Challenge Volume 2 offers you several options right at the beginning, the first of which is of course the daily test. My first daily test told me I use 5% of my brain which made me laugh because the average human is said to use 10%. Considering it was the very first time I had done any of these 'exercises' and the instructions are vague at best (look at matches and answer question) I dismissed the result altogether. It certainly wasn't motivating to say the least. I would never come back to this game every day to try to improve a score like that. BC2_hires_ENG_screenshot_03

Secondly many of the games seem to rely on twitch reflexes as much as actual thought. That's not really exercising my brain is it? From what I can tell half of the score for each activity is based on how many you can do in a given amount of time. The other half is actually doing them correctly. Considering that you're playing on a mobile keypad it's extremely easy to fat finger yourself into a very low score.

The second option you have is a stress test. The first time I took the test I scored a 90% stress level which made me actually laugh out loud. Again, if you knew me personally you would know that I am not generally a stressed out person. So I took the test again today. I scored an 82%, lower than the first day, however I am far more stressed today as I have been working on a programming project all day that has met with no results. So I guess that's not at all accurate now is it? It's just familiarity with the activities really.

ggmobile-rating-skip You can also choose to train in each activity individually but honestly, I can't see why someone would put the time into it.

Overall the game is mildly entertaining, highly inaccurate and basically not very interesting. I can't really recommend anyone actually buy this game as it's not even interesting enough to keep children involved from what I can tell. I'm not a child but it just doesn't seem to have enough action to keep anyone's attention. I would play something like Tetris over this game any day but it probably beat out Watching Paint Dry.
