Ojom has taken another long lost license and brought it to your mobile. This time it's the Ferrari driving, barrel-chested, cheesy moustache-having Hawaiian detective, Magnum. This is not my mother's long-lost love Tom Selleck but it's a sometime interesting side-scrolling platformer.

The player of course takes on the role of Thomas Magnum, P.I. and you have to jump and slide your way through each level while collecting rings (10 get you a free life) and dollar signs which are basically just points. After two short training missions you are ready to take on your first case. It's more of the same really. Jump and slide over or under obstacles and get to the end.
There's no directional control. Once you hit a button to start moving you cannot stop or change direction, overly simplistic in my opinion. Even in games like Super Mario Bros. you were afforded limited range to back up and find a possibly better path. In this title the game simply pushes you along so that any mistake spells your doom and a restart of the level. It seems to me like they were lazy in making the title and didn't even want to consider using more than two keys for control.
The graphics are good, the environments look good and are what we have come to expect from most mobile titles of late. They really live up to the SNES quality of other recent titles and I would even call some of the environments 'rich' in detail. The character sure looks like Magnum so that you're not just playing some random Joe Shmoe (sorry joe).
The theme music is totally reminiscent of Magnum P.I. Too bad it's the only sound in the game from what I could hear. While actually playing through the levels there was no sound at all in the version I checked out. So that's all there is to say about that then.
Overall the game wasn't what I would call fun or exciting. In fact it is somewhat bland and repetitive with no real variety or diversity. When I take into account the amazing lack of sound and the uninspired gameplay I have to rate this game a 'Skip it!' because it's just simply not good enough to be purchased in my eyes. Sorry Ojom, but that's the way the pineapple bounces. Give my regards to Rick and T.C. Sorry mom but it really isn't YOUR Magnum P.I.
