It's a super Sunday and so I thought I would roll out the old classic. It's time to hit the gridiron, or your couch, toss the pigskin or grab the remote and eat a super bowl of cereal, but leave room for the Sunday Hot Ham and Rolls.
Well some of the biggest news to hit the streets this week was EA randomly announcing Rock Band for the Wii. This comes via engadget, via Joystiq, via IGN (most of which are the same company), but it's said that the EA CEO said something about RB coming to the Wii on a conference call and that it's pretty much been confirmed. Pretty much. There are no details, no date, no nothing. There's just someone saying that it will be. Fortunately, the person that said would alse be the one to know. So hang in there Wii owners, you'll be able to rock out soon enough.
In typical Sony fashion they are denying rumors that the PS3 is on a diet and set to shed a few inches this fall.To round out the make-over it's also being said that black is out and silver is the new black. Yes folks, aside from hard drive changes in the system it looks like they're cutting down on it's massive girth, though Sony disagrees. Of course how many times have we seen Sony say "no we're not" and then turn and do exactly what they said they weren't doing? Seven? Do I hear eight? Eight anyone? Well believe what you like but looking at the history of the PS2 which started big and black and then when slim and silver, and the fact that many believe history repeats itself. Well I guess all the pieces for the puzzle are there then. Image from T3.com Also the 120GB with the packaged Dual Shock 3 is pretty much confirmed now as well. Obviously they're trying to do something over at Sony, they just aren't sure what yet. They did say 'no comment' on the new package though which means they're generally up to something. Reminds me of that joke about lawyers...
Let's see Sony, Nintendo, oh right...Microsoft! Well they are happy with the Xbox 360 Elite sales numbers. So happy in fact that they are not planning on making any changes. However it seems they are never available in shops when you go to look for one so here's a tip for the big heads over there at M$, make more. Take some of that fat stack of cash you got as profit from last year and make more Elite's. If there's truly that much demand for the product making more shouldn't hurt now should it? Oh wait, are you making a profit on that machine? Maybe they're just too busy keeping an eye on what Google is up to and trying to takeover Yahoo to know what's happening. If anyone buys Yahoo, I hope it's Google, but I just don't think that will happen.
Since we love Rock Band mods I thought we should report about this thing that others reported about where you can add an actual guitar string to your guitar. Engadget says it adds a touch of class , I beg to differ. Being able to actually strum the string would be cool but I'm not so sure about how it looks. Plus drilling into your guitar DEFINITELY voids the warranty, so make sure you're either really good at this sort of thing or wait until someone like Nyko comes out with one on its own. Isn't there a mod to use a real guitar in Rock Band already?
This was going to be a tip of the hat to another site for coming up with a good story but after I read the story I realized it was them just bitching and they didn't even have the hardware. Not to mention it seems that Extremetech is 100% anti-Nintendo. "
Nintendo's basically made a career of ripping off Apple." Does anyone else smell fanboy urine? It sort of smells like reprocessed Starbucks and a whole lot of wanna-be juice. So instead of giving them some traffic I decided to bash them.
Hi my name is Guido, I'm a recovering fanboy.
Moving right along to something of actual interest. So you love the idea of Portal but don't want to shell out for the rest of the games? Well now you're going to get the chance to pick and choose. EA announced that they are planning to piecemeal out the Orange Box. Not surprisingly, considering Portal received game of the year in several places (including with me). Again, no details but I imagine you should be able to grab up the games for a reduced price from a shelf or download service near you soon. Halleluiah!
It's a pay as you go Sunday. If you were here earlier now there's more for you to read. I'm posting as I go today to keep it interesting. It seems that the ever-evolving game, isn't ready for the limelight yet. Spore is 'squarely a fiscal 2009 project' said EA CEO John Riccitiello. That means the game will not be out any time before April since that's when their fiscal year starts. It seems Will has come up with the neverending game project sort of like this is becoming the neverending Sunday post. Well maybe not. Sooner or later something has to end. Everything, including the universe ends sometime.
Alright one more than then I too must go have a super bowl of breakfast cereal. From all acounts Emotiv is ready to release some strange neuro-interface headgear. Are you staring at my headgear? Well it looks as if they have built some interface that uses the head. I'm not so sure I'm excited about using my head to game. The website is still sketchy and there are no decent shots of the unit but there's an exclusive launch event for press coming February 19th that should shed some light on it. I wonder if it will require some sort of datajack like in the Matrix or will we have to shave parts of our heads to make some sensors pick up some sub-skeletal brain wave activity? I think it's going to just be an IR or Bluetooth enabled helmet sans padding that will simply track your head as it bobs about while playing games. Call me jaded.
