[OpEd] [PC]

Let's take a walk down the road of what to do while killing time between beta and release (yes I'm still stuck on Warhammer, get used to it!).

As I promised last week I'll be giving my personal views on Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning and all the other MMOs in general. If you haven't caught up to where we are in the series here I'm currently in a waiting point before the release of WAR. I've been anticipating this for quite some time as you can see from my previous articles and the excitement is starting to boil over.

The most frequent question I'm asked is "How does WAR compare to WoW?" and my reply has become this: If you like the large scale PvE raiding, grindi RvR_2 ng away on regents for your upcoming raids, working on rep for rewards, and waiting for people to show up in general then you'll want to stick to WoW. If you play WoW for the P  VP leave for the store now and purchase  the pre-order for Warhammer Online. The PvP (or RvR in WAR) is far superb to anything WoW can offer at this point. Even during preview weekend, the balance of classes and the setup of the scenarios was incredible. I had limited interaction with the open world RvR but the experience I did have reminded me of an even better and structured version of Southshore vs Terran Mill.

In WAR there are basically two paths to level up (XP & Renown) and a sort of reputation called Influence. In t RvR he early stages of WAR you can usually knock out 2 of 3 categories at a time. Influence is  gained through the public quest system and can be used to purchase items an  d gear from vendors in each chapter of the game. While gaining the influence you gain XP for your normal contributions. If you go the early RvR route you will most likely be signing up for instanced scenarios that involve some type of objective for both sides to complete. As you help eliminate enemy players you gain XP and Renown.

For those of you new to the Warhammer franchise I'd love to say welcome but I'm also a newcomer myself. I was never big into pen and paper games so this is really my first trip into the Games Workshop Warhammer universe also. Don't be intimidated as they have gone all out to make new players feel welcome. If Age of Conan left you wanting PvP in an MMO and something different than WoW I would like to welcome you home to WAR!
