[OpEd] [PC]

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning open beta kicks off on Sunday. Let me pose some questions for our faithful readers!

So, you've pre-ordered the game (did you get in on the Collectors Edition?!?) and you've finished your open beta client download. Now you wait in limbo like the rest of us! I encourage you to not waste this precious time before beta but to embrace it and determine what career you're going to try out during this week of open play. The rumors are swiring around and it sounds like the engineer, magus, and pet classes have had some major overhauls.

Personally, I will be trying to back play the careers that I thought were a bit thin during the preview weekend. While these may not be my first choice for my main there could be some longshots out there. Between major upgrades and an overhaul to pet pathing that could make some career choices rise to the top.

The first grueling choice will be which side to play. It looks like we'll only get to play 1 side per server so my gaming group will need to choose somewhat wiseley. Since each side will have its own population cap that may make things interesting if they stay the course of the preview weekend. On the other hand that are polls on the net that suggest that the balance is relatively similar. Currently in my gaming group we are discussing wether or not going order will be beneficial and give us far shorter que times to play. This will certainly be something that is investigated by many in the open beta.

As for my class choice, I originally pegged the Orc Choppa to play many many moons ago. As you may/may not know this class was one of four careers removed from the game reducing the total number to 20. While 20 is still a good amount this has left me trying to find what playstyle I will enjoy and what will get me to the top of the RvR food chain. After removal of the choppa, my next choice for a career was the Goblin Squig Herder. Unfortunately, after a poor preview weekend, I became more interested in trying ranged DPS (damage per second) classes without pets and ended up focusing on the Magus and Sorceress.

Heading into open beta i'm still really undecided on my main. I'm hoping to hammer out the last details on what should be a great run in Warhammer Online and what should give me years of fun. It's a tough choice but this open beta week will be a huge help in making the decision on which path to take in game. So with that I ask you this, what will you be playing come release?
